Today we honor St. Joseph—the foster father of Jesus, the chaste spouse of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and the protector of the Holy Family. He stands as a model for every father and leader, showing that true manhood is rooted in service, sacrifice, and responsibility.
In today’s chaotic and self-indulgent world, we (especially I) need the example of St. Joseph more than ever. He teaches humility, courage, obedience, and trust under pressure. When faced with uncertainty, he trusted God. When called, he responded. When danger arose, he protected—fleeing to Egypt to keep his family safe.
Scripture records none of his words, yet his life speaks loudly—through action, obedience, and quiet strength. St. Joseph shows us what it means to live not for ego-drama, but for God’s drama.
As Saint John Paul II wrote in Redemptoris Custos, Joseph’s fatherhood is a total gift of self.
A simple prayer:
St. Joseph, protector of the Holy Family,
guard my family and guide me in strength, humility, and faith.
Help me to follow God’s will with courage and trust. Amen.
